{MADAM CHINO SPRING WOMEN'S COLLECTION} 2013 Runway Photos

Madam Chino has been creating up-cycled women's clothing out of pre-loved t-shirts for over 10 years. This summer she traveled to a textile recycling plant (aka "Rag House") in New Jersey (tour the factory here) to source over 300 lbs of rescued t-shirts for the use in both sewing and education. T-shirts are one of the most common, and thus commonly discarded, clothing items in America, and also the most consistent in overall pattern and content. This predictable characteristic allows for dependable product results, allowing the Madam Chino line to create unique quality artisan clothing from otherwise all-too-common and over-saturated post-market material.

The Madam Chino website will launch this summer at www.madamchino.com providing Madam Chino eco-fashion products to the public for individual and wholesale purchase in many sizes and colors.

Madam Chino has been creating practical and utilitarian menswear for over 10 years using rescued vintage fabrics combined with up-cycled vintage flannels and sweatshirts. The work employs new uses for everyday throw-away objects such as linings made of cast-away snuggies, revived argyle socks for pockets and wrist cuffs, hoody drawstrings made of shoe-strings, as well as hand-made buttons drilled and varnished of re-purposed closet poles (view the blog post here).

Madam Chino's Spring Men's Collection was showcased at the UWM Union Concourse in Milwaukee Wisconsin on Earth Day Monday April 22nd at High Noon. The work will be available online at www.madamchino.etsy.com by the end of May.
